We here in the editorial staff of CCH sometimes tire of wading through stacks of authoritative guidance and proposals of the FASB, AICPA, SEC, PCAOB, IASB, and all the other bodies tasked with standard setting for the accounting and auditing professions. We find their work interesting, or else we would probably be employed in some other endeavor. But we occasionally feel the need to look beyond authoritative guidance and into the hearts, souls, and machinations of the standard setters and those who influence and are affected by their decisions.

So, we started this blog, The Financial Statement, as an outlet for our musings and deeper looks into that fascinating world that is accounting and auditing. Occasionally we will simply examine current issues and proposals. Sometimes we will stray a little afield into the the politics influencing that world. And, from time to time, we will add our own thoughts and ideas to The Financial Statement kettle.
